Newcomers Meetup – Universeum

Tuesday, 2 June 19:15–20:15

First time at the Ecsite Conference? Don’t worry, we’ve all been there! The Newcomers Meet-Up gives first-time attendees a friendly space to connect and get tips for making the most of the event. Hosted on the first day of the event, so you'll be able to spot familiar faces during the rest of the event. Limited to 100 participants on a first-come, first-served basis.

New Members Onboarding – Universeum

Tuesday, 2 June 19:15–20:15

The New Members Onboarding is the ideal opportunity to meet the Ecsite Board and connect with other new members. This event is invitation-only for organisations that have joined the Ecsite network in the 12 months before the event.

The Networking Gateway event is a relaxed and welcoming evening of connection and conversation. Whether you're looking to meet like-minded peers, make new collaborations, or simply to enjoy good company, this is the perfect space to connect. This is included in your Full Conference ticket package. 

Nocturne – Universeum

The Nocturne is your opportunity to discover Sweden’s national science centre like a VIP. This event is included in your Full Conference ticket package.

All nine floors will open for the evening – giving participants full access to everything Universeum has to offer. Explore the award-winning Mathrix exhibition, and don't miss the chance to experience the Wisdome's fully immersive visualisations. Feel the rainforest heat and the beat of your heart. Get lost in space and find yourself on a dancefloor. And be sure to stay energised with delicious Swedish flavors from Universeum's own kitchen. 

Farewell Party – Grand Curiosa Hotel

Do you want one last hurrah before the end of the Conference? Put your dancing shoes on and enjoy the final evening of the event! Please note, this is not included in your Full Conference ticket package.

Attendees will have incredible views of Gothenburg from Mei Rose's rooftop terrace at Liseberg Grand Curiosa Hotel. Limited to 350 guests, the evening will feature dancing, light Asian-fusion bites, and a relaxed, fun atmosphere — the perfect way to round off Ecsite 2026. 

No, all attendees of the Ecsite Conference must buy a ticket. 

• The Ecsite Conference is held in English. 
• There are four free Speakers passes per Deep Dive workshop valid on the morning of 2 June only.
• A person could be a Speaker and/or Facilitator at a maximum of three sessions (plus one Deep Dive workshops).
• Please avoid resubmitting sessions presented in previous Ecsite Conferences.
• This is an open and honest peer learning moment, sharing failures and learnings is a good thing.

• Sessions must be updated in line with ACPC feedback by the agreed deadline to be included in the provisional programme.

• Final programme changes must be submitted by the agreed deadline to be included in the final programme.
• Ecsite may adjust session titles, summaries, and topic tags.
• Each session must have at least three speakers representing different organisations and countries.
• Speakers must register to attend the Conference by 8th April 2026; sessions with unregistered speakers may be withdrawn from the programme.
• Only content, images, videos, and data may be presented that you have created or have permission to share and always credit sources.
• Unless part of an Ecsite-designed commercial showcase or a sponsored session, presentations must remain free of direct or indirect selling, product demonstrations, or promotional pitches.
• Unfortunately, the Programming Committee are unable to enter into discussions about the outcome of the assessment process.

What are the accessibility measures at Ecsite 2026?

We are committed to ensuring a comfortable and inclusive experience for all participants. During the Conference, the following special accommodations will be available:

• Quiet Rooms: Designated quiet spaces will be provided for attendees seeking a moment of calm or focus, including a dedicated quiet room during the Nocturne event
• Sensory Support: Look for our “Comfort Boxes” containing helpful gadgets such as stress balls and other sensory tools.
• Hearing Loops: Selected rooms will be equipped with hearing loops to support attendees with hearing aids

What is the legacy project supported by Ecsite 2026 ticket fees?

This year, 10 Euros from each ticket will be donated to an ongoing project that is reintroducing the Atlantic Sturgeon into the ecosystem of Göta River in Sweden.

Can my spouse and children attend too?

Conference tickets are for the named ticket holder only. However, there will be a limited number of (paid) guest passes available for the Networking Gateway and Nocturne events, with a limit of 2 accompanying persons per participant for each event. Guest passes for the Farewell Party will only be available on-site if we have the capacity. The Ecsite Conference and the Networking events are really not suitable for children. 

Does Ecsite issue press passes to the Ecsite Conference?

Yes, Ecsite welcomes accredited press who cover organisations communicating science with the public to report on our Annual Conference. Please see how you can qualify and apply in document attached.
