International Directors Forum 2026

National Science Museum, Bangkok, Thailand 17 & 18 August 2026

The 2026 International Directors Forum takes place on 17 & 18 August and will be hosted at the National Science Museum (NSM) in Bangkok, Thailand. As Thailand’s national science museum, NSM invites both local and international visitors to explore science and technology through engaging, hands-on experiences.

What is the International Directors Forum?

The International Directors Forum is a global gathering of senior leaders in the science engagement sector - such as CEOs, directors, and managing directors of science centres and museums. This high-level forum is organised in collaboration with its six sister regional networks of ASPAC (Asia Pacific), ASTC (North America), Ecsite (Europe), NAMES (North Africa & Middle East), RedPOP (Latin America & Caribbean) and SAASTEC (Southern Africa).

It offers a confidential, intimate two-day platform - for around 200 participants - where leaders can exchange strategic insights, share experiences, build cross-regional relationships, and shape collective action around vital themes.

First held in 2023, the inaugural event took place at Ecsite member Heureka, the Finnish Science Centre, bringing together approximately 200 CEOs from worldwide science engagement institutions.

The Forum is designed to spark deeper international collaboration, encourage the sharing of best practices, and generate legacy resources that can support wider impact beyond the event itself.

Why is the International Directors Forum important?

The International Directors Forum is a unique event in the Conferences Calendar because it:

Breaks Regional Boundaries: Provides a rare chance for participants to network beyond their usual regional context.
Strategic Peer Learning: Facilitates candid, senior-level discussions on emergent issues facing the sector.
Amplifies Reach: The combined reach of participating organisations covers a vast global audience - in 2023 participants joined from 99 organisations across 40 countries.
