HULA LOT OF FUN AS LIFE CELEBRATES NATIONAL DAY OF PLAY

Life Science Centre in Newcastle upon Tyne offered free instructor-led hula hooping sessions for adults on Wednesday 4 August to mark Playday – the National Day of Play in the UK.

The hula sessions, which are running for one day only, are part of a summer of fun as Life celebrates its 21st birthday and officially enters ‘adulthood’.

Linda Conlon, Life's Chief Executive, said: “We hear so much about ‘adulting’ and the mundane demands of daily life, but promoting play and imaginative discovery for adults can have a positive impact on our professional lives, our relationships and our mental wellbeing.

“It is fantastic to see so many adults letting their hair down, having fun with hula hooping and enjoying themselves at Life today.”

Life Science Centre is open seven days a week, offering lots of fun and hands-on activities and exhibitions for all ages.

You can get an idea in Life's Space Zone, which includes a mock-up of part of the International Space Station, and a planetarium, where you can enjoy a show about time travel narrated by David Tennant.

If you're an AFOL (Adult Fan Of LEGO), come and marvel at LEGO® Creations on display in the science centre, including models of the Houses of Parliament, a huge four-metre-long airport and Stephenson's Rocket locomotive.
