The International Centre for Life (or ‘Life’ as we’re known) is a pioneering science village in the heart of Newcastle upon Tyne. A key part of Life is the science centre, which opened in May 2000. It is the science centre for the North. Our varied and exciting engagement programme serves families, schools, adults, pre-schoolers and teenagers.
Audience Research and Evaluation Manager
£25k - £32k (dependent on experience)
Full time - One Year Fixed-Term Contract to September 2021
Life has an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced audience researcher to lead on audience research, evaluation and advocacy and embed practice and evaluation strategies across the organisation. Supported by the Inspiring Science Fund, Life is developing external relationships, programmes and new ways of working in order to better serve North East communities. The project incorporates exhibitions, programmes, community engagement and the development of Life’s culture and practices.
The ideal candidate will be an organised, self-starter who can plan, co-ordinate and deliver audience research and evaluation. You will have knowledge and experience from a similar role, with excellent understanding of different audiences and how to overcome barriers to learning and engagement in informal setting. You will bring insights and a creative approach to your work, collaborating with and influencing colleagues and stakeholders, to support an audience focused culture. You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills to facilitate work with children, adults and people with diverse needs and backgrounds.
Candidates must be flexible as this role will require significant evening and weekend work at various locations.
The role is grant funded and is initially for a one year fixed-term, with the possibility of further extension.
