Science centre functions: what do we sacrifice?

There are lots of great ideas for engaging the public with science out there - but do science centres and museums have to do them all?

We only have a certain amount of resources and it would be unwise to spread them too thin, so have to make choices about what we do. What public engagement activities should be left to someone else and why? Each panel member will speak for 5 minutes on the activity they offer to sacrifice, before the audience gets a chance to pitch in.

This is intended to stir up discussion and controversy about the mission and direction of science centres and get participants thinking about the function of science centres in the 21st century.
