Finding new audiences and fostering science capital is a main issue in strategies of many museums and science centres. In both Finland and the Netherlands, the Museum Card is in use, attracting new visitors and providing data about them. In the session, speakers from both the Netherlands and Finland will discuss their experiences.
NEMO Science Museum joined the Museum Card system in 2010. Visitor numbers increased substantially, tapping into new adult audiences. In this session, we'll explain the system behind the card and the card's importance to the museum will be highlighted.
In Finland, the Museum Card includes a statistical tool, which combines national open data provided by the population information system. Heureka joined the Museum Card system in July, 2020. During the session we will introduce you to the statistical tool and analyse the data that we have from Heureka.
