EXTRA, the marketplace for scientific touring exhibitions.
In just 24 hours, Pompeii and neighboring Herculaneum were buried by
the catastrophic eruption of Mount Vesuvius in AD 79. Lost for centuries, the site remained nearly untouched until 1748. Today, advanced scientific research uncovers the extraordinary achievements of Pompeii and the Roman world.
Through artworks, unique interactives, and multimedia experiences, visitors will journey through time to a first-century Roman town. They will stand at the center of events, feeling the earth rumble beneath their feet, and hearing the roar of Mount Vesuvius as it erupts before their eyes.
The scientific concept is by Museo Galileo in Florence, Italy, and the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, Italy, with design by award-winning exhibition designer Tempora of Brussels, Belgium.
