Commitment: Equity & inclusion
The Equity@Ecsite workgroup created a Framework for diversity, equity, access and inclusion (DEAI), which was test-piloted with 17 pioneer institutions. These pioneers represent a diversity of countries, languages and types of institutions within the community; they are diverse in their size and experience in DEAI. The pioneers have gone through a series of training sessions and mentorship to start and continue implementing strategies and tools to transform their institutions to be more diverse, equitable, inclusive and accessible.
This is a double session and will focus on the common challenges we see that pioneers face when attempting institutional change:
- WHICH small steps were initiated that actually amount to a significant cultural change?
- WHO can keep DEAI on the institutional agenda, which alliances were formed?
- HOW did joining a formal pioneer process status help institutional commitment (peer exchange, mentoring, tools)?
- WHY did institutions embark on the journey and what have they learned?
