Live action games: a tool for emotion and content communication

Positioned at the crossroads of theatre, games and personal experiences, live action games (LARPs) are powerful tools for social inclusion, decision taking and content communication. Fully immersed and emotionally engaged, players are "pushed" directly "inside" content.

During this whole-day workshop, we will explore ways to use LARPs for inclusion, ecology awareness, political decision making, historical contextualization, scientific communication and more. Participants will be part of different scenarios to understand game mechanics, ways to organise and develop LARP events and how to communicate through strong narratives.

This workshop is for everyone who’d like to understand, use, experience and create live action as part of their programme, whether expert or neophyte. Applications: LARP, escape rooms, mixed reality experiences (with VR or AR)…

More about this workshop: All day long, we will focus on 5 main parts:

  • Theory and history of LARPs
  • Live scale debates involving space and people,
  • Narrative and game mechanics
  • Content communication through emotion and immersive events
  • Finally participants will take part in a short game, plunging into live action themselves.
