EXTRA, the marketplace for scientific touring exhibitions.
The International Exhibition of Sherlock Holmes brings this world to life as never before as you step into Conan Doyle’s Victorian London and work side-by-side with his legendary detective. You will become Holmes’ eyes and ears as he tackles a baffling new case in a world steeped in innovation and experimentation. Along the way you’ll see a dazzling array of original manuscripts, publications, period artifacts, film and television props and costumes. You’ll learn to use investigative tools and techniques from Holmes himself, and test yourself with exciting, interactive crime-solving opportunities.
Visitors will learn the ways of Sherlock Holmes, Conan Doyle's inspiration for his stories, and the development and use of forensic science. The galleries in the exhibition include:
- Conan Doyle's Study: Visitors will discover his world, first as a medical student in Edinburgh, later as a practicing physician in Portsmouth, and finally becoming a literary genius in London.
- Train Station: Visitors will participate in experiments that feature innovations in science and technology during the 1890s -- developments still relevant today.
- 221b Baker Street: The sitting room of Holmes and Watson -- a room rooted in popular imagination.
The exhibition can be translated to any language.
