Family from the 18th century

Three naturally mummified individuals of a family from the 18th century, Hungary.

265 naturally mummified bodies found unexpectedly in a long-forgotten crypt of the Dominican Church, Hungary filled with richly decorated coffins. After their rescue starting in 1994, scientific investigations covered the way of life, the health conditions, and mortality rate of the population of an 18th century town. From the families uncovered from the crypts, a story of a father, a mother and their three children became known from the parish registry and the scientific examination.
