Living labs: Are they the future for science centres?

A living lab is a research concept. A living lab is a user-centered, open-innovation ecosystem, integrating research and innovation processes within a public-private-people partnership. The concept is based on a systematic user co-creation approach integrating research and innovation processes. Are living labs possible “common grounds” with research institutions and companies? Are these labs environments for empowerment and awareness about science and technology in society? This session explores the possibilities of integrating living labs into science centers or exhibitions. Experts from different fields present their experiences, possibilities or pitfalls. Opportunities will be investigated, including new ways of working with the public in co-creation, co-design or test environments. Are living labs the future or “the emperor’s new clothes”?
