The Planetarium Science Center at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina is launching the Intel-BASEF competition taking place during March, 2012 in an open ceremony, where the event will be publically introduced, accompanied by success stories from the previous Intel-BASEF competitions. The Intel-BASEF is a competition where participants prepare a project or research, in any subject of their choice from 17 science fields.

The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center (PSC) is organizing the second Women in Science Conference (WIS 2011) on 3 and 4 December 2011 at the BA Conference Center. This Conference is the first that the BA organizes after the 25th January Revolution to raise awareness regarding the importance of science and technology, and it shall also tackle the related issues of sustainable development and job creation. The Conference celebrates the centennial of Marie Curie’s Nobel Prize in 1911, setting Curie as a model for 21st century young researchers.

The Science Museum and the Botanical gardens “Carmela Cortini” of the University of Camerino, in collaboration with the Pinacoteca e Museo civici and Museo Arcidiocesano “G. Boccanera”, open their doors to school teachers to show their didactic activities, temporary exhibitions and events scheduled for 2011/2012. the PSC Summer Program includes a unique workshop about the secrets of the legendary ancient Egyptians.In the first part, children learn the mummification process using a human model, know the chemical materials used during the process and make a canopy jars. In the second part, children will make a tomb model and discover the ancient Egyptian chemical elements as well as the different types of dyes.The target age is 6-11 years.
