The Bibliotheca Alexandrina Planetarium Science Center (PSC) is organizing the second Women in Science Conference (WIS 2011) on 3 and 4 December 2011 at the BA Conference Center. This Conference is the first that the BA organizes after the 25th January Revolution to raise awareness regarding the importance of science and technology, and it shall also tackle the related issues of sustainable development and job creation. The Conference celebrates the centennial of Marie Curie’s Nobel Prize in 1911, setting Curie as a model for 21st century young researchers. It also emphasizes Chemistry both as a science and an industry, as the conference coincides with the UN Declaration of 2011 as the International Year of Chemistry. WIS 2011 hosts a number of renowned national and international scientists, such as Prof. Mostafa el-Sayed to discuss issues related to the latest discoveries in chemistry and nanotechnology, and the means to empower women, as encouraging women to pursue careers in science and scientific research maximizes the human resource utilization Registration is Open from 15 September to 15 November 2011.For more information, please visit: www.bibalex.org/wis2011 .
