One of the Intel Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair 2014 top three grand awards winners, Sara Ezat, Mona ELsayed and hoda Shoman, two from dakahlia governorate and one from Sharkia governorate, got the third grand award in enviromental sciences category at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair 2014 held in LA, California, USA 13-16 May 2014.
June 3, 2014 was the closing ceremony for the Science Olympiad competition, hosted by the PSC for the fifth consecutive year. The Competition comprised two parts; the first part includes visits to various faculties, including the Faculty of Agriculture, and Science and Medicine and the Faculty of Arts and the Arab Academy for Science and Technology. The second part is a science competition taking place over two days to test the students’ gained knowledge during these visits. Participants of the Olympiad came from 11 different preparatory schools in Alexandria.
President Obama paid a visit to Ecsite member Miraikan (National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation, Tokyo) end of last week. Addressing Japanese students, he identified “science, technology, maths and engineering” as crucial skills for the “global economy”.
1st Egypt’s Science Month is a celebration of science, it aims at increasing the awareness of the contribution of science to our society and how science is important in our life! Egypt’s Science Month is gathering different foundations and initiatives concerned with science and scientists and their goal is to provide opportunities to people of all ages to take part in all science and technologies activities.

On March 20th, 2014, the Planetarium Science Center at the Library of Alexandria offered high school students Master Classes in Physics. Each Masterclass is a one-day-activity, where researchers invite high school students and let them be scientists for one day. The core activity is a measurement with real data from CERN (Conseil Européen pour la Recherche Nucléaire, or European Council for Nuclear Research).
The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in collaboration with Intel Egypt and the Ministry of Education (MoE) have organized Intel Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair 2014 (Intel BASEF 2014). The competition serves the Egyptian youth as it empowers students ages 14 -18 to conduct a research and present their projects findings under 17 science and humanities themes.
On March 4, 2013 a criminal fire destroyed the Science Centre of Città della Scienza in Naples. On the occasion of the first anniversary next Tuesday, a Framework Program Agreement that will kick off the rebuilding will be signed between the Italian Government, Regione Campania, the City of Naples and Città della Scienza.
Throughout the day, Città della Scienza will open its doors to the public with science labs, talks, music and theatre, to share the desire to rebuild the Science Centre.
SCIENCE ADVENTURE HAS A NEW PLACE
Bursa Science and Technology Center new building had put into service by the participation of Mr. Fikri IŞIK, Minister of Science, Industry and Technology. Besides the Minister, Governor Mr. Münir KARALOĞLU, Mayor Mr. Recep ALTEPE, Prof. Dr. Yücel ALTUNBAŞAK (president of TUBİTAK) and other esteemed guests took their place at the grand opening.
Local & national presses and public show a big interest in this event. There were over than two thousands people at opening ceremony that had televised by Turkish National Channel (TRT) as live broadcast.
Bursa Science and Technology Center which is Bursa Metropolitan Municipality’s vision Project aims to accelerate the development in terms of science and technology in Turkey and to become a model in this context as the first example of entire country. This is a Project that carried out social responsibility under the leadership of Mr.
Mr Alan Brien, Chief Executive Officer of Scitech in Perth, Western Australia has been voted in as the new President of the Asia Pacific Network of Science Centers (ASPAC).
Mr Brien has been CEO of Scitech for 13 years and has led the organisation into a particularly active and prosperous era in their international connections with several Scitech-built exhibitions appearing at venues through the Australian, Asia Pacific and European regions and Scitech science shows being performed at international science festivals.
