Year 2014 was the first year of activity fully carried out on brand new exhibition of EXPERYMENT Science Centre in Gdynia. During this very successful time, EXPERYMENT welcomed 260 000 visitors. All guests had opportunity to experience more than 200 interactive, fascinating exhibits. During 2014 there were also few temporary exhibits in EXPERYMENT such as “Urban Bees – the bees in my City” (summer 2014) or “Feel the art” (still available until the end of February 2015). Exhibition “Feel the art” makes users understand how blind people perceive the world we live in.
19 January, 2015, marks a very unique day in the history of the Planetarium Science Center of Bibliotheca Alexandrina and CERN organization. It is the Inauguration of “Alphabet of the Universe, From CERN to North Africa and Middle East” Exhibition.
For Science Centre AHHAA in Tartu, Estonia, 2014 was a great success in many ways. First off, our annual number of visitors reached almost 220 000 (surpassing the 2013 total of 190 000). Combined with the events that took place outside AHHAA, both in Estonia and abroad, over 320 000 people took part in our activities last year. It is also worth noting that half of AHHAA’s visitors come from abroad – mostly from the neighboring states Latvia and Russia.
The Knowledge Economy Network (KEN) has presented Luc Van den Brande, chairman, and Erik Jacquemyn, Chief Executive Officer of Technopolis®, the Flemish Science Centre (Mechelen, Belgium), with the “Award of Excellence”. The award stands for the excellent way in which Technopolis® communicates science and technology to young and old, especially in view of its organisation of the Science Centre World Summit 2014.

Last 12th of November the International Design Contest for the reconstruction of the Science Centre of Città della Scienza in Naples, has been published on the Official Journal. Purpose of the contest is the development of a preliminary architectural design for the new building that will take place in two stages: a first one by the 20th January 2015, in which competitors will highlight the project idea through schematic sketches; a second one for the 15 projects selected, where competitors will be required to do an executive preliminary draft.
The North Africa and Middle East Science centers network (NAMES) held its 4th General Assembly Meeting at the Bursa Science and Technology Center (Turkey) on 7-9 November 2014. The theme of the conference was “Innovation: Revisiting your Mind!”. Sub-themes tackled in parallel sessions and workshops were “Innovate to Educate”, “Innovate to Reach”, “Science behind Innovation”, and “Innovation and Society” or “Innovation and Social Change”.

The 4th Polish edition of FameLab has just started. Polish speaking scientists are welcomed to apply until 31 January 2015 and take their 3 minutes to speak about science.
