Yesterday was an important date for the reconstruction process of Città della Scienza, Naples, Italy. The winning project for the new building of the Science Centre, destroyed in a criminal arson in 2013, was presented in a Press Conference in the presence of the Italian Minister for Infrastructure Mr. Graziano Delrio and the new President of the Regional Government Mr. Vincenzo De Luca.
The winners are two young architects of 29 years old, Andrea Guazzieri and Valerio Ciotola, as part of a professional Italian team of engineers and architects, who created a new design for the future Science Centre fully integrated in the urban landscape and environment, including elements of cultural memories with new technologies for the construction of a sustainable building.
President Vittorio Silvestrini and CEO Vincenzo Lipardi expressed their great satisfaction for the results of this International Design Competition, coordinated with the INARCASSA Italian Foundation of Architects - open especially to young architects and engineers - where the creativity and the quality of the project were considered as key elements in the selection of the final project more than the financial capacities.
- The winning team is the consortium composed by Valerio Ciotola, Andrea Guazzieri, Stige & Partners srl, Icaro srl, Dinamicamente Architetti, Nicola Marchetti, Alfredo Postiglione, Salvatore De Lucia.
