From 30 October, at Città della Scienza
Sea Horizon is the result of PIER, a European project aimed at explaining how research and innovation can be responsible towards societies by taking into account the needs of people and the environment, as well as by involving citizens in all stages of research. In particular, we have chosen to show in our the exhibition the applied research on marine sciences through spectacular exhibits and multimedia products.
Futuro Remoto 2011: “Journey to the Centre of the Earth”. From November 11th at Città della Scienza! Futuro Remoto is the Annual multimedia event in Naples visited by more than 60.000 visitors every year.
World Science Day for Peace and Development is celebrated each year on 10 November. Città della Scienza as an “ONG in relation with Unesco”, takes part to this initiative in particular for what concern Naples activities. The event will involve all actors (universities, NGOs, CVOs, etc) who work in international cooperation contributing to peace and development processes. The Day will have a particular relevance in Naples since it has been considered as a crossroad of different cultures and civilizations and the city will be involved in great international events, which will be hosted in Naples, such as the World Urban Forum in 2012 and the Forum of Cultures in 2013.

Celebrating its 29th Edition, this year Futuro Remoto, held from 15 to 18 October, won the challenge of moving from its location in Bagnoli to the heart of the city of Naples in Plebiscito Square. More than 130.000 visitors have been to the Science Festival that involved six universities of the Campania region and more than 400 institutions, research centers , universities, cultural and artistic associations, schools and businesses.
Two young architects of 29 years old, Andrea Guazzieri and Valerio Ciotola, won the competition for the reconstruction of the Naples-based science centre, destroyed by a criminal fire in 2013
The call is launched in the framework of a project, named “Città della Scienza 2.0 – New Products and Services for knowledge society”, funded by the Italian Ministry for Education, University and Research, in the context of the reconstruction process of the new science centre destroyed by the fire.
Last week the Ecsite Board met in Naples (Italy) at Città della scienza, two years after a criminal fire destroyed a large part of the science centre's premices. Choosing Città to host its Board meeting is one of the many signs of support Ecsite has been giving over the past months.
Last 12th of November the International Design Contest for the reconstruction of the Science Centre of Città della Scienza in Naples, has been published on the Official Journal. Purpose of the contest is the development of a preliminary architectural design for the new building that will take place in two stages: a first one by the 20th January 2015, in which competitors will highlight the project idea through schematic sketches; a second one for the 15 projects selected, where competitors will be required to do an executive preliminary draft.
On March 4, 2013 a criminal fire destroyed the Science Centre of Città della Scienza in Naples. On the occasion of the first anniversary next Tuesday, a Framework Program Agreement that will kick off the rebuilding will be signed between the Italian Government, Regione Campania, the City of Naples and Città della Scienza.
Throughout the day, Città della Scienza will open its doors to the public with science labs, talks, music and theatre, to share the desire to rebuild the Science Centre.
