extraordinary.

Smithsonian photographer Carolyn Russo explores the varied forms and functions of air traffic control towers throughout aviation history, making these ordinary structures extraordinary: more than mere aviation artifacts, they are monumental abstractions, symbols of cultural expression, and testimonies of technological change.
