10‑Minute Museum: Climate Crisis Mathematics

The 10-Minute Museum (10MM) dedicated to the Climate Crisis illustrates the role of mathematical models in comprehending global warming and anticipating climate changes.

The 10-Minute Museum is a self-contained, free-standing, portable station that offers the experience of a science museum exhibition in less than one square meter and within a brief time frame. It features various content forms - text, images, sound, video, touchscreens, and more - inviting exploration. It also provides opportunities for visitor participation.

The station focuses on the science of the climate crisis, with a strong emphasis on mathematical modeling. Its goal is to explain what climate models are, how they are built, and what they can reveal. It also covers mathematical models that explain or predict the effects of climate change on plant and animal life, as well as human activities. Lastly, it provides resources for further exploration of the subject and offers ideas for taking action, from the individual to the political level.

Exhibits include the following topics:

  • GCM – The Mega Model
  • Navier-Stokes Equations
  • The Gulf Stream
  • Climate box model simulator
  • Data Sonification
  • Paleoclimatology
  • Warming Navigator
  • Earth grid models
  • Video: A Chat with Scientists

The exhibit is available for rent, for sale, or to rebuild yourself.

More information is available on the 10MM website.
