The Ecsite Conference, taking place this year in Heilbronn, Germany, and hosted by experimenta, starts on 2 June, with pre-Conference workshops on 1 June. It will be the first time since 2019 that Ecsite has held an in-person Conference, and with only three months to go until the event begins (and just over a week left of the super early bird rate), we thought we would provide you with a useful reminder of all that is on offer to anyone connected to science engagement.
Professional development and learning opportunities
#ecsite2022 will have over 75 sessions taking place over three days, covering a wide range of topics such as 21st century skills, the biodiversity and climate crisis, equity & inclusion, learnings from the pandemic, tinkering and much more. There will also be two exciting keynote speakers during the event. But before all this takes place, the pre-Conference workshops take place on Wednesday 1 June. These workshops are an opportunity for a full day of in-depth learning on equity & inclusion, learning outcomes, open schooling, science shows and space. This is your chance to meet specialist peers and join communities of practice around specific topics.

This year there are over 250 speakers at the Ecsite Conference, including some familiar faces and some new names. If you’ve never attended this Conference before, you'll be joining a friendly, approachable, science engagement family where everyone learns and shares from each other.
Do business at the Business Bistro trade fair
The Business Bistro has almost 60% of its booths reserved for exhibitors already. It means that you will have the chance to meet lots of contacts all in one place, to make business and establish and strengthen those important connections. Furthermore, the Business Bistro will be located at the heart of the Conference's unique venue, making it easy to check out at any time of the day. Don't miss out on the Business Bistro Happy Hour on Friday 3 June, where exhibitors traditionally bring delicacies from their native countries for you to enjoy as you peruse the booths.
Network in person with over 1,000 science engagement professionals
With a Conference taking place in an open, festival setting, with tents instead of Conference rooms, there is lots of space for participants to meet, share knowledge and learn from each other. No amount of zoom calls can replace the value of connecting with others on a personal level, by engaging in conversations at sessions and workshops, over meals, at the Happy Hour, or even dancing at the Nocturne or Farewell Party.
