As part of this this unique pre-conference workshop, we'll first all participate in a large collaborative chain reaction event called "Ecsite for all", organised with the Graz inhabitants on Tuesday 7 June. We will observe, build, and facilitate this chain reaction
On Wednesday 8 June we will use this shared experience to reflect on the ways that tinkering and making can connect science centres and museums to the larger community. We’ll begin with a deep dive into the public event. We’ll discuss the experience based and consider how this type of activity can provide inspiration, suggest possibilities, and generate questions related to our practice.
In the afternoon, workshop convenors will share a hands-on look at several activities and tools inspired by community makers and events such as masking tape sculptures, circuit stickers, and strawbee creations. At the end of the day, we’ll discuss maker faires, public art events, and camps and classes. Through these diverse examples, participants will gain an understanding of how making can involve a wider community.
