Scientists have always travelled to remote places for study and research. In the same way, tourists today travel to remote destinations and want to understand and learn what they see and experience. The scientific tourism initiative focuses on combining tourism experiences with science communication, for the benefit of all involved.

In a pre-recorded road-trip video from above the Arctic Circle, the session will present the development of the SCITOUR initiative, showing the various possibilities to combine tourism experiences and scientific knowledge. The presentation video will be followed by a live broadcast from Iceland, Scotland and Greenland where partners in the SCITOUR initiative will present regional variations of their main science tourism-related products.

The session will also present ‘Wonder Seekers, Expanding Minds,’ developed for the SCITOUR initiative and demonstrate how those interested can get involved.
