Science is open by nature. Researchers share their findings in publications, and each scientist benefits from and builds on top of each other’s work, in a wide, interlinked community. How much of that translates into science communication? In the last few years, an increasing number of small and larger institutions (even whole science museums) are adopting the approach of sharing exhibits to be reproduced, creating true synergies. Open science communication is gaining momentum!
We will drive the session around these (and more) questions:
- What is an open-source science exhibit?
- What is the business model of open-source exhibits?
- How can I make my museum open-source?
- How can I find existing open exhibits?
- What is the relation to the "open science" movement?
- How can opening exhibits help to reach new (geographical) regions or new target groups?
