Nowadays it is common that new exhibitions must be barrier-free and meet high requirements concerning accessibility. Legitimate demands of organizations representing disabled people and official guidelines for accessibility are a major challenge for the concept development, design and implementation of exhibitions. Often this is considered a difficulty in terms of technical constraints, content requirements and financial framework. But maybe this is a mistaken view. It can also be regarded as a chance to develop totally new approaches, ideas and solutions that can benefit every visitor in the end. In this panel session we will investigate these challenges and opportunities, based on practical examples from the field.
