“Science for an informed,sustainable and inclusive knowledge society” is a new report from European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso’s Science and Technology Advisory Council . Read the EU report here .

The policy paper says there is work to be done to ensure that European citizens support and trust scientific research and the innovations emerging from it: “In spite of the fact that Europe’s fate depends on a prudent utilisation of knowledge, most European societies face a growing distance between knowledge producers, users and citizens. Many innovative applications of science and technology lack significant public support, regardless of what the balance of scientific evidence suggests about the level of risk associated with any specific application.”
