The Road-STEAMer project was represented at the 14th International CoMuseum Conference, held in Athens. This dynamic event featured three days of insightful talks, engaging discussions, hands-on workshops, and vibrant networking opportunities. The conference explored how museums and cultural organisations—fundamentally trust-building institutions—can promote diverse perspectives and champion inclusion for all.
As part of Road-STEAMer’s mission to expand synergies in STE(A)M, with science centres and museums as key players, Ecsite’s Stephanos Cherouvis participated in the panel discussion, “Museums, Trusts and Leadership.” His presentation highlighted the vital role of museums as testbeds for scientific and artistic innovation. Drawing on Road-STEAMer’s efforts, he emphasised how STE(A)M initiatives within museums can address societal challenges and inspire communities through interdisciplinary engagement.
By contributing to the conversation on trust and leadership in museums, Road-STEAMer reinforced its commitment to integrating science and the arts in ways that empower diverse audiences in science learning. The project’s participation in CoMuseum underscored the importance of collaborative approaches in developing inclusive, sustainable, and impactful STE(A)M education practices within cultural institutions.
The Conference was organised by the Benaki Museum, the U.S. Embassy in Greece, and the British Council, in collaboration with the British Embassy in Athens, the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Greece, the Thessaloniki Concert Hall, under the auspices of the Hellenic Ministry of Culture, the Municipality of Athens, the Municipality of Thessaloniki, and ICOM Greece. The CoMuseum is also the flagship programme of the British Council’s Museums Revisited programme in Europe.
