Imagine a world, where new technologies better serve societal needs…
That is the vision of the SocKETs project. To help industries achieve this, the partners created a free online guide as a source of information for the tech industry & innovators. From planning and finding your target audience to facilitation and evaluation, the guide provides tools on how to engage citizens in the process of developing responsible innovative technologies.
Why? Because innovative technologies have a significant impact on society and relations between humans and technology. It is therefore crucial that the tech industry engages with citizens to hear their perspective and develops ways to address their concerns.
The guide gathers lessons from the SocKETs project collected over the past three years: since 2020, the project has engaged with stakeholders and citizens on different key enabling technologies by testing different societal engagement methods in six living labs across Europe. Four of these labs have been managed by Ecsite members: the Center for Research and Analyses in Bulgaria, the AHHAA Science Centre Foundation in Estonia, the Museo Nazionale della Scienza e della Tecnologia 'Leonardo da Vinci' in Italy and the Center for the Promotion of Science in Serbia.
SocKETs has received funding from the European Union´s Horizon 2020 Framework Programme for Research and Innovation under grant agreement No 958277.
