SocKETs aims at developing a shared understanding of the role of key enabling technologies in society and advocating for the importance of societal engagement in the innovation process. To do so, SocKETs committed to highlighting other initiatives and experiences combining societal engagement and emerging technologies.
Following a call in 2022, the EU-funded project had published three societal engagement stories, sharing lessons and experiences from partner networks on emerging technologies, societal challenges and public engagement.
After the success of the first call, a second one was launched in November 2022 and three new stories were selected. For this second edition, SocKETs published stories proposed by the EU-funded projects Allthings.bioPRO and RESPONSE, as well as the Danish project Seniorinteraktion.
From students to seniors, these stories share their approach to engaging with different parts of societies, using methods such as mentorship, gamification or codesign sessions. All with the purpose of involving citizens in the development of technological solutions addressing some key societal topics: energy consumption, isolation of seniors and bioeconomy.
