Ecsite is offering 20 free Conference passes for its 2021 Online Conference edition to speakers who are new to the Conference.

Participants of the Ecsite Conference love hearing new perspectives, fresh ideas and different horizons. In event feedback received in previous years, attendees have been consistently asking to hear more speakers from outside of the science centre and museum field. To help attract new faces to the Conference, for the sixth year running Ecsite is offering 20 passes to speakers who can convince the Conference Programme Committee that they will contribute novel topics, angles or session formats.

This could be your chance to finally bring in the awe-inspiring speaker you have always wanted to see at the Conference - or attend it for free if you're one of the brilliant minds, critical friends or super-talented experts we have been missing.

Step one: form or join a team and develop a great session proposal together. You'll find everything you need to know about this on the dedicated call for proposals web page.

How to apply for a free pass?

Step two: once you have joined a session proposal team, fill in this short application form. Besides your contact details, we only ask you to provide a short statement (max. 300 words) explaining how you heard of this opportunity, why you would love to speak at the 2021 Ecsite Online Conference and how the ideas / perspectives / session formats you want to share would inspire science communication professionals.

How will applications be reviewed?

The Programme Committee will be selecting the received applications on the following criteria:

• First come first served basis
• Novelty of the suggested topic / angle / session format
• Overall balance of professional horizons, geographic origins, themes and genders
• Although not essential, priority will be given to newcomers from institutions who are new to the network
• Speakers who have attended an Ecsite Conference in the past are not eligible

All applicants will be informed by the end of April as to whether they have received one of the 20 free passes.
