Positioned in the core team of The European Topic Centre on Biological Diversity (ETC/BD) at the French National Museum of Natural History (MNHN), the Senior Officer on Ecosystem Assessments is expected to manage projects related to ecosystem assessments and provide policy support in his/her area of expertise. Application deadline is Friday 31 January 2020.
Tasks
- Plan and elaborate projects (content and budget) for year n+1, in collaboration with EEA and ETC partners
- Organise and monitor work progress of every ETC expert involved (from MNHN as well as from partners)
- Provide and maintain expertise on ecosystem assessments at supra-national and European scales to support existing and new public policies at European and EU levels, within the projects s/he manages and in contribution to other ETC projects
- Represent ETC/BD (EU expert groups, conferences, meetings, etc) and disseminate ETC/BD work (publications, presentations…), in her/his field of expertise
Eligibility criteria
- MSc or PhD in a relevant field (Ecology, Environmental Science…)
- Experience relevant to the position: > 5 years
- Project management, including budget
- Transversal management with remote colleagues in an international context
- Strong expertise in ecosystem assessments including influences of sectors and EU biodiversity and nature policies
- Communication to various audiences (especially policy makers)
- Fluent English (oral and written)
Good knowledge of French is not essential but would be advantageous for the position, located in Paris.
