On the 27th and 28th of November 2017, the Ecsite Space Group’s Annual Meeting was hosted by the European Space Astronomy Centre, ESAC, in Villanueva de Cañada, Madrid, Spain, and welcomed European Space Agency and science centres and museums representatives from over 10 European countries.
Highlights of the first day of the workshop included a visit to the Planetarium of Madrid and a hands-on introduction to the “Alive!” game, developed under the topic ‘Is there life out there?’ by the City of Arts and Sciences, Valencia, Spain.
The second day brought insights into ESA’s Communication Strategy and Science Programme as well as a behind-the-scenes visit of ESAC. A special treat was the presence of ESA astronaut Pedro Duque, who joined the participative session on ‘Space for Society: Cooperating with museums to engage the public on future European space programmes’.
