Europlanet awards grants of between 5000 and 15 000 Euros to fund projects to engage the public with planetary science. Through the funding scheme, Europlanet aims to encourage new ways of bringing planetary science to audiences across Europe and inspire the next generation of scientists and engineers.
The judging panel will be looking for projects showing innovation, a potential legacy beyond the term of the funded project, the potential for wide European participation, the involvement of countries with recently-established planetary research programmes, or the opportunity to reach groups in deprived areas or areas remote from STEM activities.
A call for funding opened on 20 October 2016 and will close on 31 January 2017.
Selection Criteria:
- Projects that include direct interaction with planetary science researchers are highly desirable.
- Innovative projects and pilot schemes are encouraged.
- The proposal should demonstrate the potential legacy, and highlight opportunities for wide European participation and the opportunity to reach groups in deprived areas or areas remote from STEM activities.
- Proposals should demonstrate that the project team has the appropriate range of skills to carry out the project successfully. Plans should be realistic and clearly linked to the desired objectives.
