Hungry for fresh, exciting science content? Check out some Science Snacks: bite‐sized, hands‐on activities that are scientifically accurate, teacher‐tested, and easily explorable—all with simple and inexpensive materials..
Science Snacks open up a world of discovery to anyone with a passion for noticing and engaging with the phenomena that surround us every day. Browse around, dip into a few themed collections of activities—then build and share them with your students or colleagues. Whether you’re a teacher, after‐school leader, student, or DIY learner, our Snacks are for curious minds in and out of the classroom.
For over 30 years, the Exploratorium's Teacher Institute (TI) has been the professional home for middle‐ and high‐school science and math teachers in the Bay Area and beyond. TI’s staff of PhD scientists and veteran science educators have developed over a thousand classroom activities that encourage both teachers and students to build and explore tabletop versions of Exploratorium exhibits and other hands‐on investigations of science. These activities are designed to demonstrate unusual or unexpected phenomena, spark curiosity, generate questions, and serve as the starting points for deeper classroom explorations.
