The Chair of the Scitech Board, Mr Tony Joyner, today announced that CEO Mr Alan Brien has decided to retire.
Mr Brien has led Scitech’s Executive team for the past 17 years. Mr Joyner said that Scitech, and indeed all of Western Australia, had benefitted greatly from Alan’s leadership and passion for science.

“Alan retires having made a significant contribution to Scitech. Under his leadership, Scitech has grown and developed enormously to become one of the world’s leading interactive science centres. Each year, Scitech welcomes more than 300,000 visitors through its doors, as well as managing the world’s largest science outreach program inspiring children and teachers throughout Western Australia, and developing interactive science exhibitions that travel the world.”
“On behalf of current and past Board members we would like to thank Alan for the enormous contribution he has made to Scitech. Many people have contributed to the success of this iconic Western Australian institution over the last couple of decades – none stand taller than Alan. To find a successor, the Board has appointed the Perth office of Hudson Executive to conduct an international search.”

Mr Brien said it had been a privilege to lead Scitech.
“Scitech has been a wonderful opportunity for me, it’s been a varied and challenging career. I am extremely proud of our achievements to date and look forward to seeing the development of a New Scitech at Education Central.”
“I will remain as CEO of Scitech until the new CEO is appointed to ensure a smooth transition of leadership and the continued development of world class STEM initiatives for the Western Australian community.”
