Rijksmuseum Boerhaave, the Netherlands’ treasure chamber of science and medicine, has just reopened with a series of brand new permanent galleries and theatrical experiences showcasing a collection spanning five centuries of medical research and innovation. The museum has been named after Herman Boerhaave (1668-1738), one of the leading scientists in Europe in his day. He was an all-rounder: a skilled physician, anatomist, botanist, chemist, humanist and researcher.
