Copernicus was also a woman

The final Science: it’s a Girl Thing! Gender Day happened at Copernicus Science Centre in Warsaw, Poland, 5 December 2012. This event challenged the popular stereotypes and proved that science is not all about older men in glasses.

The Polish Gender Day aimed at promoting exact sciences among women as a choice for professional career and breaking the stereotypes linked to the traditional division of career paths into typically male and female ones.

On this day, a series of lectures and meetings with recognized and prominent representatives of science was held: it involved 235 pupils, 15 teachers, 13 role models, several high-level lecturers, and 2 dogs! The meeting was attended by students of the selected schools from the Mazovia Voivodeship. Information about the programme is available at the official website of the European Commission: www.science-girl-thing.eu
