The Planetarium Science Center (PSC) at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina (BA) in collaboration with Intel Egypt is organizing the seventh affiliate competition, Intel Bibliotheca Alexandrina Science and Engineering Fair (Intel BASEF 2016) in all Egypt. The competition will empower Egyptian students ages 14 -18 to conduct a research and present their projects findings under 17 science and humanities themes. To enhance the quality of projects and expand geographically, the PSC is collaborating with the Ministry of Education to reach all governorates. The first 10 winning projects will represent Egypt in the international competition (Intel ISEF) in the USA.
The PSC in collaboration with the Ministry of Education (MoE) has administered Intel BASEF 2016 in all the 28 governorates. The winning projects (average of 20 from every governorate fair) will compete through 3 local fairs; Alexandria Fair covering Northern Coast and Delta, Cairo Fair covering Greater Cairo, Giza and 6th October, and Hurghada Fair covering Upper Egypt and Red Sea. Winners of local fairs qualify to compete in Intel BASEF 2016.
The PSC will offers students and teachers training sessions, technical and financial support to accomplish their research study, Judging committees for the governorates fairs to ensure that the assessment is in line with Intel ISEF standards and guidelines, and supervision on implementation process.
Cairo and Luxor Fairs, have taken place during February, and have resulted in the announcement of 6 winners, while Alexandria Fair will take place during 13 - 16 March, and will end by announcing the remaining 4 winning projects.
