As those who are in contact with children at home, in the classroom or on the streets know only too well, to educate is not such an easy task, as it is an uncertain and always new experience. Every society and era implements its own ideas on education, which not always conforms to reason or the interest of the child. Education needs constant reflection and permanent renewals. Therefore it is desirable to change what is wrong. Humour is one of the most important factors. This is what Frato, Francesco Tonucci’s pen name, has been doing for half a century. His cartoons, always from a child’s perspective, reflect the errors and contradictions of education in urban and developed societies. The exhibition “Imaging Education. 50 with Frato” is an invitation to think, to discuss ill thought practices, to imagine a change. At the same time it is an opportunity to show the intelligence and creativity of children and their ability to learn and build.
