Centre for Administration and Operations of the Czech Academy of Sciences is an independent legal entity of a not-for-profit character, whose aim is to ensure the infrastructure of research and development and provide supporting activities particularly for the Czech Academy of Sciences and its 54 public research institutes. They are mainly activities in these areas: • information technology, electronic communication, network administration, databanks and information systems, • the issuance of scientific and specialised publications, scientifically orientated periodicals under the Academia trademark, the operation of bookshops, internet bookshops, antiquary bookshops and literary cafés, • the publication of Academic magasines, • communication with the media, provision of the popularisation of science and marketing, the production of audio-visual works, • organisation of conferences, training and professional seminars, cultural-educational activities and exhibitions, • the provision of legal support, patent and licensing services for workplaces of the CAS, • the administration of property, operation of its own lodging and catering establishments, flat management, investor-engineering activity, etc.
