This series of eight workbooks was published by the Zurich-Basel Plant Science Center in Switzerland. It recognizes that communicating with policy makers is a key aspect of the work of many researchers around the world. They are meant to be used as a learning resource to advance education in life sciences at the policy decision level.

It emphasizes how scientists must follow a participatory approach in policy making. This means providing information so as to generate a debate on the subject, and eventually analyzing and assessing the policies. Scientific knowledge must be transmitted in an effective way and the proper communication is of utmost importance.
