On Thursday, 11 June, which would have been the first day of the 2020 Ecsite Conference, Ecsite hosted a day to (re)connect, challenge & stimulate your minds, feel part of a big family and be proud of who we are as a science engagement network. Thanks to Ecsite's members, all #EcsiteOnline events were open and free to all professionals engaging audiences with science and technology.
We were welcomed to the day by Ecsite's President Herbert Münder, followed by a thought-provoking Kavli Foundation keynote lecture by Nicolas Nova, on design fictions and the near future. Two panel sessions followed later in the day: on learning from this pandemic to improve our organisations and on the future of business models. In total you'll have watched over 40 people from across the network on-screen.
In the afternoon, we were touched by the words of Ecsite's Executive Director Catherine Franche. There were also lots of opportunities to have fun and let your hair down: we played a game with Ecsite's GameLab, tinkered with everyday household items with the #MakeEcsite community, danced with the Ecsite Jazz Band and ended the day with a quintessential pub quiz. There was also lots of opportunity to network in the meetups created on the app during the day.
