Tuesday 9 June 2015 - Pre-conference day 1
Participants investigated fundraising strategies, engineering programmes, self-guided experiences for schools, space science communication, innovation methodologies and explainer programmes for the outdoors…
Wednesday 10 June 2015 - Pre-conference day 2
Participants discussed the future or natural history museums, the meeting point of evaluation research and practice, the challenges of low-budget marketing strategies, the running of Maker Spaces, and the possibilities of space science communication…
Thursday 11 June 2015 - Main conference day 1
Newcomers started early with a networking breakfast, before joining all other attendees at the Opening event, whose speakers included Peter Dröll, Acting Director of the ‘Innovation Union and European Research Area’ at the European Commission.
The conference’s Business Bistro opened its doors for the morning coffee break. For the rest of the day, participants were able to pick and choose between ten parallel session strands: travelling exhibitions customer services, planetariums, press ethics and many more were discussed and debated… In the evening everyone re-convened for the Gala Dinner, held at a stunning winery at the foot of the Dolomite mountains.
Friday 12 June 2015 - Main conference day 2
Andrea Illy, entrepreneur and CEO of illycaffè, delivered a keynote speech at 10.30 For the rest of the day, participants were able to pick and choose between ten parallel session strands: serious games, visitor tracking, humour in science centres, Maker Faires and many more were discussed and debated…
In the evening participants discovered a transfigured MUSE for the Nocturne… live jazz music, suspense and great finger food formed the ingredient of this fabulous night.
Saturday 13 June 2015 - Main conference day 3
Tristram Stuart, food waste scandal activist, delivered a keynote speech at 10.30 For the rest of the day, participants were then able to pick and choose between ten parallel session strands: food exhibitions, synthetic biology, science and the cities, meta-making and many more were discussed and debated…
At the end of the day, winners of the Business Bistro competition were revealed at the Closing ceremony and we got a glimpse of what will await us next year at the 2016 Ecsite Annual Conference in Graz (9-11 June 2016). At night participants said their goodbyes at the Farewell Party, held in a reconverted motorway tunnel!
