The next European Union Framework Programme for Research and Innovation (FP9) is currently being developed and negotiated. Ecsite has just released a position paper entitled "Together for a democratic and sustainable Europe". It states that FP9 should actively involve citizens in the science and innovation process. The current EU Research and Innovation Framework Programme, known as Horizon 2020, will expire at the end of 2020. The European Commission is now working on a proposal for the next Framework Programme (FP9) as part of the EU’s proposal for its next long-term budget, the Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF).
