The Pilots project has now published its Resource Pack, complete with the best of the explainer training activities developed for the Pilots project, all described in detail step-by-step, with a strong focus on the theoretical background, and complete with a set of handouts and presentations.
Pilots is a 2-year project, coordinated by Ecsite, which aims to update the status of the explainer in science centres and museums.
The call for proposals for the Ecsite Annual Conference 2011 will open on July 6, 2010. This year people interested to submit session proposals , will have plenty of time and a new conference website with additional functions in order to ensure the maximum opportunities for preparation for a succesful proposal submission.
The First Announcement of the Ecsite Annual Conference 2011 is now available to download, and paper versions are currently being circulated to all Ecsite members.
As part of an ongoing professionalisation process, Ecsite has been gradually working to improve its governance. In this context, the Board of Ecsite decided to review the statutes, particularly regarding the system of election of the President and the membership criteria.
Our Annual Conference for science centres and museums, across Europe and worldwide, took place in Dortmund, Germany, 3rd-5th June 2010 and was hosted by DASA.
The Pilots project fourth training workshop will take place at the DASA, Dortmund, Germany, June 1st – 2nd, before the opening of the Ecsite Annual Conference.
Ecsite is the European network of science centres and museums with 400 institutional members. The common thread uniting these institutions is a commitment to public engagement, communicating science through accessible, interactive exhibits and programmes.
“High Tech! High Touch!” What is the future of children museums? Are they going to turn into digital places or continue to give priority to traditional mediation?
From 3rd until 6th November 2009, la Cité des sciences et de l’industrie, in partnership with the European association of children’s museums Hands On! Europe, hosts the 7th International Conference of Hands On! Europe.
Ecsite, the European network of science centers and museums (www.ecsite.eu) is making available 15 subsidies (up to € 2 500 each) to promote local, city-based collaborative initiatives on dialogue and science engagement. 36 applications were submitted by local administrations, science centres and museums, associations, NGOs, institutions and individuals.
