The next Euroscience Open Forum (ESOF2010) will take place in Torino, Italy, on 2-7 July 2010, under the slogan “Passion for Science”. It will be a unique opportunity to meet and discuss important issues in which science and technology play a central role.
The Pilots project today launched its European survey on the status, the roles, the activities and the training needs of explainers. As part of the Pilots project, Ecsite and the project consortium are gathering data in order to produce research on these areas.
Ecsite has now launched a survey on interactive exhibits – Visit the website and submit your exhibits!
We are looking for your most successful, interesting and inspiring exhibits. Whether an immersive experience or a simple game, we want to hear about it. You can submit as many exhibits as you like in the survey. Ecsite will gather the entries and identify the exhibits that would best fit in the Musée des Confluences in Lyon, France.
Starting from June 2009, Ecsite will coordinate the EU project OpenScienceResources: Towards the development of a Shared Digital Repository for Formal and Informal Science Education. The aim of the project is to make digital collections in European science museums and science centres easier and more attractive to use in a variety of learning occasions.
The Advanced Science Communication Training Course, organised by Ecsite for the COST office, was carried out successfully on Monday 5th and Tuesday 6th October 2009.
50 explainers took part in the second Pilots Training Workshop, June 2nd-3rd before the Ecsite Annual Conference, hosted by the Museo della Scienza e della Tecnologia Leonardo da Vinci in Milan.
The Science Communication Conference organised by the British Science Association and in partnership with the Wellcome Trust is taking place 22-23 June at Kings Place, central London. The 2009 Conference will be addressing the key issues facing science communicators today, bringing together those engaged in public engagement and is a fantastic opportunity to network, share ideas and good practice.
Nature is becoming a priority as a scientific and societal topic as it covers issues of growing interest for our societies as biodiversity, evolution, climate change, sustainability and much more.
On Wednesday, February 18th, Ecsite organised the conference “Science communicators advancing European knowledge society” at the European Parliament in Brussels.
Ecsite is currently working on a number of EU projects in a coordinating role. We are pleased to announce the kickoff of a new project, Pilots, which focuses on the role of the explainer in science centres and museums.
