Ljubljana, Slovenia – Ecsite is deeply saddened to announce that the Kersnikova Institute, a prominent member of our community, has been struck by a devastating fire just two weeks after hosting our highly successful Ecsite 2024 Conference. The incident has caused extensive damage to the art and science productions that were prominently displayed during the event, rendering the institute's interior inaccessible to the public.
The fire, which erupted unexpectedly, has left significant damage, affecting numerous exhibits and installations. While the exact extent of the damage is still being assessed, it is anticipated that a comprehensive evaluation of the impact will take several months.
Kersnikova Institute, a valued member of the Ecsite network for numerous years, has been a beacon of creativity and innovation, bridging the gap between art and science. The loss of its exhibits and inability to open to the public is a profound blow to the cultural and scientific community.
Ecsite stands in solidarity with the Kersnikova team during this challenging time and is committed to supporting their efforts to rebuild and recover. We encourage those who are able and willing to contribute to this cause to reach out and offer their assistance.
As the situation develops, Ecsite will provide regular updates on the progress of recovery efforts. We extend our heartfelt sympathies to the Kersnikova team and look forward to witnessing their resilience and eventual resurgence.
