October News from the Ecsite President

Dear Members,

As we move into the final quarter of 2024, I would like to share some important updates with you from Ecsite. This month, we have several initiatives which we feel will be of great benefit to you, our member organisations.

Firstly, I am pleased to announce the launch of our annual statistics survey results, with special thanks to our sister network ASTC for inviting us to participate in their data collection programme. The results offer a wealth of insights that can benefit all of us. You will receive emails from the Ecsite Office with the full data packs and results. It provides powerful evidence that can be used to advocate for your organisation. The insights can help you to strengthen arguments when engaging with your stakeholders, highlighting the collective voice and impact of our field. Furthermore, the data may show potential opportunities for growth and development, as well as areas of common interest with other organisations. These shared interests could help you forge valuable new partnerships to advance shared goals. Together, we can use this information to continue driving positive change.

Secondly, we will be introducing a new initiative in the coming weeks targeting the newly elected members of the European Parliament (MEPs) and your national politicians. Over the last months, we have developed an advocacy pack to support you in your external political relations, especially towards the MEPs. This initiative is designed to assist you with forging new relationships and strengthening key alliances, with the ultimate purpose of securing more funding and recognition for the field of science engagement. I invite you to work with us on this activity and would like to thank the Advisory Committee comprised of Ecsite member representatives for their valuable contributions to developing the pack.

Lastly, I would like to invite anyone who has not yet registered and would like to, to join us for the Directors Forum hosted by We The Curious in Bristol, United Kingdom on 21st & 22nd November. It is a unique opportunity for Full and Associate Ecsite member senior leaders to connect, share strategies, and address the challenges we all face in steering our organisations forward with a specific focus on the critical role of community engagement. I look forward to seeing many of you there and hearing your thoughts.

Warm regards,

Bruno Maquart
