Non-formal education & Open schooling: Join SLEs 2nd Policy Session!

SLEs Policy Session

We are excited to invite you to the SLEs (STEAM Learning Ecologies) project's 2nd Policy Session, taking place online on Tuesday, 24 September, from 10:00 to 12:00 CEST.

Co-organised by APRE and European Schoolnet, this session will focus on "Good Practices and Recommendations for Open Schooling and STEAM." With 13 successful pilot projects and over 600 stakeholders engaged during the first year of implementation, the SLEs project aims to boost young people’s interest and involvement in science across 13 European countries. This is achieved through the creation of local partnerships and active civil society involvement, building a STE(A)M-based approach that promotes continuous learning in communities.

Science engagement organisations play a vital role in the development and sustainability of STEAM activities outside the traditional classroom setting. These organisations help to bridge the gap between non-formal educators, schools, and other community actors. Ecsite’s director, Catherine Franche, will join the panel to discuss the important role that science centres and museums can play in this ecosystem.

During the session, we will:

  • Share key insights and results from our pilot initiatives
  • Explore how to advance the future of STE(A)M education by co-creating practical and actionable policy recommendations

We encourage all stakeholders with an interest in STE(A)M education and Open Schooling to participate, including educators (formal, non-formal, and informal), policymakers, industry representatives, and organizations active in the field.
