The NAMES (North Africa and Middle East Science centers network) biennial conference explores the latest best practices of science communication in North Africa, the Middle East, and the world. The call for proposals for the 2018 conference is now open until 31 March.

ABOUT THE CONFERENCE

"NAMES 2018, will take place 24-26 October 2018, back at the Library of Alexandria, Egypt, where it will be hosted by Founding Member, the Planetarium Science Center (PSC), in celebration of the 10th Anniversary of NAMES 1st conference and GAM, NAMES 2008, which was also organized at the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, home of NAMES Secretariat Office.

360°: See It All! (الصورة كاملة) is the theme of NAMES 2018. It is a call to look at work in science centers and museums from all angles, functions, and contexts, to be contemporary to where the world is now while we create, connect, and commit. Indeed, the role of science centers and museums is to communicate and connect. We communicate science and connect people through knowledge and awareness; a feat that requires us to create contemporary, relevant, and empowering content. Science communication professionals are expected to set an example of scientific, critical, and sustainable thinking; of professional performance and service; and thus, of holistic assessment and approach to managing and developing institutions.
